Erik Detiger, Founder and Managing Director
Mr. Erik Detiger has over a decade of experience working in the field of international philanthropy and fundraising. After working as a corporate manager in Thailand, he started his non-profit career in the Netherlands for grass-roots human rights organizations. In 1995 Erik moved to the international level as a consultant and program officer for UNICEF (unicef.org) in New York managing human rights projects and large scale national vaccinations campaigns, then to Tanzania for UNICEF’s refugee program, and then to Nepal for the International Labor organization’s Child Labour Elimination Program. Erik was the former secretary of the UN NGO Health Committee.
A highly successful international project manager and fundraising professional, Erik Detiger has raised over US$100 million in non-profit fields for numerous international projects from a wide variety of government agencies, foundations, and institutions.
Over the years Erik has lent his expertise to many international human rights organizations including the International Center for Transitional Justice “ICTJ” (ictj.org) and Social Accountability International “SAI” (sa-intl.org). He is a frequent guest speaker and regularly teaches International Fundraising at the Human Rights Advocates Program (HRAP) at Columbia University in New York (hrcolumbia.org/hrap)
Erik is the Managing Director of fundsforNGOs Inc. – one of the largest on-line resources on fundraising for NGOs (fundsforngos.org). He is also the Treasurer of The American Friends of the Mauritshuis.
Alta Alonzi, Program Associate
As a Program Associate for Philantropia, Alta Alonzi is responsible for researching donors, developing program initiatives, organizing fundraising training programs, and much more. She also works closely with FundsforNGOs (fundsforngos.org) in hosting webinars, editing content, and updating the international donor database. While Alta has conducted extensive donor research with global reach and a variety of causes, she maintains a soft spot for East Asia and Environmentalism.
Prior to joining Philantropia, Alta conducted detailed research on foundations and individual donors in the New York area for OAI (oai-usa.com). She has also worked with a variety of NGOs and social businesses in Shanghai, China as an Events and Marketing Intern for the Eco Design Fair (ecodesignfair.cn). Alta graduated from New York University with a BA in Global Liberal Studies.
